NOTE: The Jadrenelan family is nobility, and therefore these characters cannot be your first character, and must be adopted with permission from admin.

Kalia Needs Family Members!

Kaliatharian comes from a large family. She has many siblings and both of her parents are still living. If you're interested in any of the following family members, let me know!

Note: Kalia's family is known for giving its children absurdly long names. It's tradition! I'd like to stick to it.

Also, the family are all fair-haired, Nordic types. If you could select face claims to suit this, that'd be excellent.

Father

Name: Lord _____ Jadrenelan
Recommended Face Claim: Bill Nighy, open to suggestion
Details: An older man, in his late 50s at least, since Kalia is now 24 and she's the 5th or 6th child in the family. He's nobility, possesses a great deal of property and a large mansion home. He loves his wife and their brood of children, but is very strict when it comes to allowing his children to mingle with members of lower classes.

While he insists that his family help the poor, be gracious and kind, he does not permit peasant playmates, romances, etc. between his children and the peasants that work their land.

Mother

Name: Lady _____ Jadrenelan
Recommended Face Claim:Any
Details: Only slightly younger than her husband. She cares for her children but runs a strict household and places a great emphasis on maintaining the reputation of their household. Heaven forbid any of her children get dirty while outside playing!

ADOPTED!

Oldest Brother

Name: Lord _____ Jadrenelan
Recommended Face Claim: Alexander Skarsgård, open to negotiation
Details: Should be at least 30 years of age, probably closer to 35. He is the eldest child and the heir to his father's lands, title, and estate. Takes himself and his duties very seriously. Unmarried, but feel free to set up romantic relationships with other characters!

Siblings 2, 3, 4, 6 and 7

Names: Open to discussion
Recommended Faces: Any!
Details: A mixture of boys and girls. Most are generally on good terms with their other siblings, but there is competition amongst the boys for varying titles and positions within the family business, as well as competition between the girls to win their mother's favor.

Other Notes: These folks should generally be light-haired, light-eyed sorts. Tall, lean - stereotypical Nordic appearances. Psionic Gifts are present in the family line, but not every child has any. If you decide to give the child abilities, this family sends their Gifted kids to the Monastery for training to become Argents.

They live in Aerlion in a hilly, forested region northeast of Silversteed Keep.

It took them most of the day to reach a wide spot in the mountain path that was suitable for camping. The narrow, winding mountain road was too tricky for even Kalia and her well-trained Familiar to hurry down it in less than two days. With Rhys bringing up the rear of their little train, the Argent had slowed the pace a little further to ensure his safety. By the time she brought the mares to a halt, those clouds Rhys had mentioned were moving swiftly. Now, even Kalia's untrained nose could pick up the smell of rain, and her hair had gone all afrizz due to the sudden increase in humidity.

"I think we'd better call it a night," she announced as she swung down out of Brielle's saddle. "Those clouds are starting to look a little ominous, and I'd rather not be caught out on the road if they decide to kick up a storm." Without prompting, she took control of Rhys's mount and led the mare off to the back of the campsite, under some of the more dense evergreen branches. Many a traveler had used this very spot for their campsite, as evidenced by the old fire pits, the flattened squares of grass where tents were pitched, and little mounds of dirt that indicated food scraps had been buried there. "You'll have to be up front with me and let me know what you need help with," she added. "I'd rather not make assumptions and hurt your feelings."

No matter how many times she had visited one before, Kalia always found port cities to be fascinating. They were filled with so many different people, from all different walks of life, and from so many different places. They flocked to the market stalls like brightly-colored birds, and their languages made a sort of music in her ears. It was wondrous.

With Brielle, her horse, trailing behind her like an obedient dog, Kalia wandered the market in search of supplies. Admittedly, she knew exactly where the stalls were which sold travel food and gear, but she loved to browse the other stalls too. To her left, a stall selling colored glass beads strung up as necklaces or bracelets. To her right, a merchant calling to passers-by to encourage them to try his wine. In the distance, she could hear the shouts of sailors still aboard their ships, the creak of wood and rope, and the slosh of water against the piers at high tide. The wind brought in a myriad of scents, some laced with the sweet smells of pies and pastries, and others with the funk of seaweed left to rot in the bright sun.

She dawdled and dilly-dallied at one stall after another, but eventually decided to make her way toward the vendors of cured meats, dried oats and other foodstuffs that were better suited for travel in a saddlebag. That's when she saw him. An older man, slender, with a gnarled-looking staff in hand. He seemed somehow different than all the others, but Kalia brushed off that thought. Everyone here was different. There were as many variants of faces and ethnicities as there were grains of sand on the beach. Most likely, she told herself, it was that strange staff that'd caught her eye. No more.

So, after that initial pause to take a look at the fellow, she took a deep breath and kept moving. He was probably here to shop just like everyone else, and Kalia wasn't going to get her re-supply done if she was too busy worrying about odd-looking staves and the men who were carrying them! "Excuse me, sir," she said politely as she passed, since she had to squeeze between him and another patron. "I don't mean to be rude, just passing through!"

Sometimes, when the sun was shining and the world was filled with green, Kalia could forget how harsh winter at the Monastery could be. Even now, as she and Brielle made their leisurely way up the narrow mountain path to the castle, Kalia found it hard to believe that snow had ever fallen here.

Plants everywhere were in bloom, birds sang cheerfully from every tree top. There were bugs humming in the grasses, and clouds scudding by on a breeze. Everywhere she looked, things were thriving. Even the Monastery itself looked cheerful and bright out in the afternoon sunshine.

The urge to stop and sit, to take in the scenery and watch the butterflies flit from flower to flower was almost overpowering. Kalia had been out riding around the countryside for a little over a year now, and hadn't realized how much she'd missed this place until she'd left it. But no matter how much she wanted to, Kalia knew that she couldn't simply shirk her duties and rest here. Not when Brielle carried some very important medicines in the packs slung over her saddle.

So the woman and her horse made their way up the long trail, and eventually reached the Monastery. Passing through its enormous arches and into the courtyard proper, she stopped in the middle of the stone-paved square and looked around. For a summer afternoon, the monastery was surprisingly quiet... "Must be lunch time," she mused. Brielle snorted. "Well, there's no use shouting for someone," she spoke again. More because she was in the habit of chatting with her Familiar than because she expected a reply. "Come. We'll get you settled and then I'll see whom I can stir up."

With a single gesture from Kalia, the mare Brielle followed in the woman's wake as she headed toward the stables. It was easy to see the mare's excitement: after the long, hard trek up the side of a mountain to reach the Monastery, the horse was eager for a good roll in fresh hay, a helping of oats, and a long drink of mountain spring water. She remembered that this place was her home, and was excited to get back to the once-familiar surroundings.

It didn't take the woman very long to unsaddle, groom, and release Brielle into a large stall. But while she did it, she sent out a tentative mind-touch to Rhys. He was the only Argent besides Father Klaas that she was sure would be here, and besides, she knew him better than she did Klaas, anyway. :??: she Sent, rather like the equivalent of tapping softly on someone's closed door. Hopefully the Argent wasn't too distracted to 'hear' her.

Then she finished up with Brielle, leaving the mare a bucket of water on a hook in the stall, draped the heavy saddlebags over her own shoulder, and headed in the general direction of Rhys's study. With any luck, she'd run into him on the way there.

Kalia was born to a noble family, one of a large 'flock' of children. She had several older and several younger siblings, and it is perhaps for this reason that her Gift manifested so suddenly and decisively. At age 12, she could feel and experience every emotion going on around her as though it was her own, and often times she experienced many at one time.

Anger and sorrow, love and hate, joy and irritation - all of it flooded the girl until she thought she was losing her mind. And to make matters worse, her telepathic abilities sprang into life around the same time. So not only could she feel their emotions, she could hear their every thought. It would not have been so bad, if not for the fact that her family's Keep was crammed full of her exuberant siblings, the staff, and her parents.

Thankfully, Kalia's family knew what to do. They began bundling the girl up with her possessions and an entourage of about a dozen servants, and they sent her off to Saint Antistia's Monastery the moment the spring thaws arrived

She spent eight years learning there - not because she was uneducated upon her arrival, but because she had so much else to learn besides what was expected of a nobleman's young daughter. Kalia learned that there was more to life than preparing to make someone a good wife. She learned survival skills, how to fight with a bo staff, how to properly aim and fire an arrow, and more. By the time she emerged from the Monastery at age 24, she was ready to take on the world.

That brings us to today, with Kalia traveling all over Geheim and occasionally Aerlion. At her side, her familiar Brielle, and a new, more experienced view of the world.
